Node validators play a crucial role in blockchain security and scalability as they are a critical component of the decentralised infrastructure that underpins the blockchain ecosystem. Our studio was approached to design a UI/UX for an open-source web3 app that would enable validators to monitor the status of their nodes in real-time.
To create a cohesive brand for the app, our team took a comprehensive approach, starting with research into the target audience and brand values. We emphasised modern web3 aesthetics and node references in our branding processes, creating a visual identity that conveyed modernity and contextual relevance.
Given the app's data-intensive nature, information prioritisation was an integral part of the UX. We created user flows and wireframes that guided the app's navigation and functionality, prioritising ease of use, clear communication, and visual hierarchy throughout the UX design process.
During the UI design process, our team focused on translating prepared branding materials into a user interface that was clean, minimalistic, and easy to navigate. In the context of blockchain validation, where the accuracy and integrity of the data are of paramount importance, data visualization was especially valuable during the process of UI/UX design.
One of the standout features of the app was a status-defined 3D model of a validating node, which enabled validators to quickly and easily assess the status of their nodes at a glance. This feature was instrumental in making the app highly effective in meeting the client's goals, as it provided a visual representation of node status that was both easy to understand and highly informative.
We believe that SubVT is the best monitoring app on the market right now - it is fully open-source, visually stunning and highly effective in meeting the needs of the target audience. By taking a comprehensive approach to design and collaborating closely with our client, Helikon, we were able to create a user-friendly, eye-catchy yet intuitive interface that enabled validators to monitor the status of their nodes in real-time. Development and design files are available on GitHub and Figma.
